Have an important shoot tomorrow so I tried out my ghettorig. Not everyone can afford nice stuff, it’s what you make of it though!

We had a pot luck last week with some of our good friends. Here is a shot of a few plates made from all the awesomeness!

I HAVE CONQUERED PIZZA DOUGH!
I was once totally intimidated by using yeast but lately i’ve been baking bread like a champion and today I mastered pizza dough. hizaa.

This little guy has potato, red bell pepper, onion, cilantro, fire roasted pablanos, black beans, salsa and egg!

I was late to a doctors appt on the other side of town and instead of wasting the drive out there, I went and explored a local asian market, ending with me leaving with every kind of sauce and paste I could afford. This afternoon I made some red curry with veggies and crispy fried tofu for the haus family. It’s so nice to cook at home on my days off.

a Beautiful tart my friend Courtney made when she treated us to an amazing easter brunch. I could eat the french toast casserole she made all day everyday.

Two of the staff meals I made last week for my crew at No. 308. Fried trout sandwiches first and then some chicken and waffle-pancakes with a sunnyside up egg, honey and hollendaise. soooo goooodd.

Ugh, trying to start doing this again, as much as possible, but working almost 70 hours a week in kitchens is taking its toll. Here are some photos from the bar/restaurant I work at No. 308. Expect many more from there.

I know I haven’t done this in months, everything has just been so crazy and busy and hectic. I’m moving into a new place next week and it will probably be a real home for me unlike these constant sublets. Which means way more food photos happening. Today I took some gnocchi dough my boss had botched and tried to turn it into a pizza dough, it’s pretty dense but tastes great!

My roommate Joseph made us dinner:

Roasted some chicken with turnips, carrots, sweet potatoes and cauliflower. it ruled in it’s butteryness.

Today I wanted something lighter and fresher, so we have a raw spaghetti sauce with raw zucchini pasta. a little watery over time but tasted great!

Today was more about enjoying food with friends than photos, but here is an image of a lovely load of bread my baker roommate Joseph made:

Some of the best food I’ve made so far, but just wasn’t feeling the photography today. basic hotdog and a vegan faux ‘crab’ cake which really is just a blacked eyed pea and lima bean cake. yum.

On a different note, all these images look best on NON chrome web browsers. Chrome just kills the color for some reason..

Today’s shoot is going to be delayed a few hours.. I’m feeling unmotivated and in order to start cooking I’ve got to clean the kitchen. Which will take a lot of elbow grease and a lot of time. So in the mean time, here are a few I took last night of the potato-sausage bake and some delicious fried asparagus my roommate Gish made.

Local Japanese Eggplant and Zucchini Tian. It turned out perfectly and was delicious. Thinking about doing one tomorrow that is Potato and Smoked sausage and then serving it with a fried egg on top!

While the restaurant I work for is closed, I’m assigning myself some daily homework! a food shoot a day. Today we have some pasta. some bananas, and some spiced chickpea and corn tacos with pickled red onion (YUM). Practice makes perfect, right?

Day Two of the daily food shoot. Not as happy with these but learned a lot so that’s good. Roasted Veggies, some grains, some weird sauce that was a fail that turned into a weird colored goop, and a cake my roommate made the other day. I can’t wait til I can afford the $150 dutch oven I want hahah.
